(BRYAN) - A Williams County Amish mother and her children are facing a long, painful recovery after a hit-and-run crash that forced the woman to deliver her baby two months early. The newborn girl remains in the hospital and will stay there for more than a month. Family members say they still haven't been able to hold her. The woman's young daughter suffered a broken elbow that required pins, and her son is recovering from a skull fracture.

The crash happened November 12, when 27-year-old Martha Wagler's horse-drawn buggy was struck from behind by a pickup truck in rural Williams County, Ohio. The driver sped off, leaving the pregnant mother and her two children injured in the road. State police later identified the suspected driver as 32-year-old Michael D. Quillen of Bryan, but investigators say they have not yet filed charges as they continue gathering evidence. The family's relatives say they're grateful simply that everyone survived. A GoFundMe page has been launched to help cover medical bills and legal expenses, and another fundraiser--a 50/50 raffle--is planned for December 20 at the State Line Gun Show. The family's horse survived the crash without injury.
