American History Fest - Interactive Heritage History Group 9/19/23

Tom Frederick joins WLKI's Andy St. John to preview this weekend's American History Fest. It will take place September 22, 23, & 24 in Commons Park, Angola. Bringing the past to the present. Experience American History.
Enjoy a promenade back in time as you visit various camps, representing the early 1800’s through 1870’s. Ask questions, sit and have a chat, enjoy hands on activities or listen to a presentation. Enjoy a re-enacted battle on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Join in on Saturday evening at 6:30 for dancing and at 9:30 for a cannon night fire. Demonstrations and discussions daily.

Friday, September 22, 2023
8:00 am to 3:00 pm – School students spend the day exploring and learning history from past to present.
6:00 pm – Eddie Price “Christmas in the Colonies” – at the tent
All Day Saturday & Sunday
World War I Doughnut Lassie, World War I virtual explorer, Civil War and Mountain Men Encampments at Angola’s Commons Park – FREE to attend Civil War medicine, Civil War Artillery, Admiral Farragut, Frederick Douglas, History of IN, MI, OH, and KY, Flags of Our Country, writing with a Quill Pen, Butter making and tomahawk throwing demonstrations. American Legion programs.
Dramatic and Interactive presentations at Angola’s Commons Park
Bring a team or bring yourself to play Cricket all day on the park’s ball field.

1:15 pm – American Legion Commander at the Selman Timber Frame
1:30 pm – War of 1812 Colors with the Star-Spangled Banner
2:00 pm – Skirmishes from the Civil War
2:30 pm – Abe Lincoln at the Selman Timber Frame
3:30 pm – Pay Call Confederate Paymasters tent Spectators Only
3:30 pm – Candy Cannon Pre-1840 Camps
4:00 pm – American Revolution in the West – at tent
5:00 pm – Reenactors break for evening meal – camps closed
6:30 pm – Period Dance *Public Welcome to join the dance – Selman Timber Frame
10:00 pm – Night Fire and skirmishes

9:00 am – Abe Lincoln – Selman Timber Frame
9:00 am – “Cane Ridge Revival” – Eddie Price – at tent
11:00 am – Frederick Douglass at the Selman Timber Frame
12:00 noon – Pay Call for Reenactors at Our Country’s Flags Tent
12:30 pm – Candy Cannon Pre-1840 Camp
1:00 pm – Auburn Community Band Pavilion “1812 Overture” with live canon fire and other Patriotic Music
2:00 pm – War of 1812 Colors with the Star-Spangled Banner
2:30 pm – Skirmish from the Civil War
3:00 pm – Event Closes at 3 pm, after the End of the Battle
