LANSING – Three West Michigan parks could get financial help from a piece of legislation that passed the Michigan House and Senate.

State Senator Kim LaSata of the 21st District voted in favor of the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. As approved, House Bill 4469 would allocate nearly $37.8 million for 46 recreational development and 30 land acquisition projects around the State.

Specifically, St. Joseph County would receive $50,000 to make renovations at Rawson's King Mill Park in Leonidas. The bill would also provide $600,000 for two projects in Berrien County. LaSata says the Natural Resources Trust Fund is a great way to support and enhance recreational opportunities for Southwest Michigan residents and visitors. She says this year's funding will go a long way toward improving existing parks and recreational offerings.

House Bill 4469 now goes to Governor Gretchen Whitmer for her signature.
