Some Steuben County Employees Will See Raises
By: Sheila McCrea - Thursday, June 10, 2021

ANGOLA, IN - Some Steuben County employees are getting midyear raises.

The raises, which will take effect July 1, represent a way of bringing people up to the same level of other employees and making up for a lack of raises given during the 2020 budget planning for 2021.

The Steuben County Council approved a measure that will provide 27 employees a 3% wage increase.

County elected officials on the council are working with a new matrix system to catch employees who are due for wage increases.

According to Business Weekly, most recently, the Steuben County Council increased the wages of police officers and jailers, who were brought up to a much higher base that would allow officers to increase their pay based on additional training and increase in rank. The base pay for a deputy was raised from $38,700 to $50,000.
