Kendallville Shooter to Have Psychological Exam

KENDALLVILLE, IN - Matthew D. Rodriguez, the man accused in the deadly Kendallville gas station shooting, made his first appearance in a Noble County Court on Wednesday.

Rodrigues faces a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder related to the shooting which took place on June 27th at the Gallops gas station in Kendallville, IN. The incident left one man dead and two others hurt.

In court Wednesday, Rodrigues indicated that he plans to pursue a defense of “mentally disease or defect.” A judge ordered Rodriguez to undergo psychological and psychiatric examinations to confirm that.

Rodriguez was ordered held without bond and his next court date is September 7th.
