(BRONSON) – Charges have officially been filed against a Bronson man for an alleged incident that happened eight or nine years ago.

Branch County District Court officials say 27 year old Jay Wyant was arrested following an investigation by the Branch County Sheriff's Department. Wyant was then arraigned on two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct and with children accosting for immoral purposes.

The incidents allegedly happened in either 2013 or 2014 at a place on Ralston Road. The female victim told police she was 7 or 8 years old when the abuse happened. When she saw Wyant again in 2021, she told her mother of the alleged abuse and they contacted authorities.

During his arraignment, Wyant entered a plea of not guilty. His bond was set at $150,000, and a no contact order was issued if Wyant is able to post bond.

Court officials say a probable cause hearing is set for April 28 and then a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 3.
