ANGOLA, IN - The City of Angola Water Department will perform routine, semi-annual flushing and maintenance of fire hydrants, beginning Monday September 19th through Friday September 30th.

The procedure will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM according to the designated schedule for areas throughout the city.

NORTHEAST SECTION – North of E. Maumee St. and East of N. Wayne St. Monday September 19, Tuesday September 20, Wednesday September 21.

SOUTHEAST SECTION – East of S. Wayne St. and South of E. Maumee St. Wednesday September 21, Thursday September 22, Friday September 23.

NORTHWEST SECTION – North of W. Maumee St. and West of N. Wayne St. Monday September 26, Tuesday September 27, Wednesday September 28.

SOUTHWEST SECTION – West of S. Wayne St. and South of W. Maumee St. Wednesday September 28, Thursday September 29, Friday September 30.

Officials with the city’s Water Department say “good maintenance programs are essential in preserving water quality.” They say if the “piping network is not maintained properly, it can cause water quality to deteriorate.”

During flushing periods, city residents should refrain from doing laundry during these times that hydrants are flushed due to the possible discoloration of water from iron and manganese sediments.
