Steuben County Council Splits In Approval Of Code Enforcement Director
Friday, September 16, 2022

ANGOLA — This week in a divided vote, the Steuben County Council approved moving forward for a Code Enforcement Director.

In a 4-3 vote, the council voted for a new director of code enforcement position that could eventually serve the county.

According to a report from KOC Media, voting for the position were council members Lisa Aldrich, Dan Caruso, Bill Harter and Tony Isa. Voting against were council members Ruth Beer, Jim Getz and Rick Shipe.

The Council approved funding for the position that previously had been approved by the Steuben County Board of Commissioners through the end of the year.

Because the measure did not receive the full support of the Council, it has to receive second and third readings in future meetings. The measure will be delayed until the upcoming readings are complete.

Currently the County’s Building Department is doing inspection work for some of the county’s towns.
