BURR OAK TOWNSHIP – Three people were injured when two vehicles collided.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department was called out at 3:16 PM Friday to investigate an accident in Burr Oak Township. Deputies determined that an 18 year old Sturgis woman was driving north on Carpenterson Road, and ran a stop sign at the intersection of Kelly Road.

The female driver was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital by West Michigan Air Care for serious but non life threatening injuries. Her passenger, an 18 year old Sturgis man, had serious injuries as well, and was transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital by Life Care Ambulance.

The driver of the pick up was also taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Assisting deputies at the scene were the St. Joseph County Dive-Rescue Team, along with the Tri Township and Burr Oak Fire Departments.
