Three Vehicle Crash In Waterloo Sends One To Hospital

WATERLOO – A three vehicle accident took place on Wednesday afternoon in DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department said on Wednesday, June 7 at approximately 4:13 p.m. Lori Bennett, 49, of Ashley was crossing the intersection of C. R. 27 and U.S. 6 when she failed to yield the right of way to Kent Whan, 74, of Auburn who was traveling east on U.S. 6.

Whan’s vehicle struck Bennett’s vehicle and then then spun and hit Stacey Green, 46, of Angola at a right angle on the passenger side of her vehicle.

Bennett’s vehicle continued off the roadway coming to rest in the ditch facing southbound on the southeast side of the intersection.

Whan’s vehicle came to a rest facing westbound in the east bound lane of US 6.

Green’s vehicle came to a rest facing eastbound in the north bound lane of CR 27 at the intersection of US 6.

Bennett sustained a possible head injury, Whan sustained minor cuts and scrapes to his lower legs and Green sustained a possible neck injury and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

The DeKalb Co. Sheriff's Office was assisted by Waterloo Marshall’s Office, Parkview EMS, Waterloo Fire Department, Corunna Fire Department, Jeff’s Towing, and Riverside Towing.
