ANGOLA - A LaGrange County man was sentenced to 32 years on Monday, July 25 at the Steuben County Circuit Court for an accident that killed a couple and injured their two children.

Donald Squires, 51, of Howe was sentenced by Steuben Superior Court Judge William Fee on multiple felony charges.

Squires received 32 years out of a possible 36 year sentence, and the sentences were ordered to be served consecutively said Steuben County's Chief Deputy Prosecutor Travis Musser.

He faced three Level 4 felony charges: two counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death, and one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing catastrophic injury

The charges were the result of an accident where Squires crossed the center line on S.R. 120 near Orland, hitting a vehicle nearly head on, on August 5, 2022.

Squires killed Lonnie Bright, 43, and his wife, Breanna Jeanne Bright, 33, of Long Beach Lake.

The couple's daughter Journey, 5 at the time, received catastrophic injuries. Another child, Granger, 1, was treated and released from Cameron Memorial Community Hospital.

Reports state four other children were left without their parents from the wreck.
