CASSOPOLIS, Mich. – A Cassopolis man has been convicted of committing multiple acts of criminal sexual conduct against his daughters.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz says 39 year old Craig Lawrence was found guilty on ten counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and seven counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct.

Lawrence repeatedly raped his two underage daughters in their Cassopolis home between 2010 and 2019. The girls, now ages 21 and 14, testified that their father began grooming them at an early age, and then raped them multiple times over a ten year period.

Lawrence’s wife also testified to the extremely controlling nature of her husband. She says when her daughters came forward about what had happened, she contacted the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, who investigated the matter.

Lawrence took the stand and claimed his daughters were seeking some sort of financial gain by concocting the allegations of rape.

Lawrence is scheduled to be sentenced on January 26 at 8:30 AM. He faces up to 250 years in prison.
