Southern Michigan Jobless Rates Mixed In October

LANSING – Unemployment rates around Southern Michigan were mixed for the month of October.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says that St. Joseph County saw their unemployment rate go up from 4.2% in September to 4.6% in October.
Cass County had a slight decrease, dropping from 4.5% in September to 4.3% in October.
Both Branch and Hillsdale Counties remained unchanged from September to October.
Branch County stayed at 3.8% and Hillsdale County at 4.3% Statewide, the unemployment rate in Michigan increased from 3.9% in September to 4.2% in October.
Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director of the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says the State’s regional unemployment rates generally exhibited minor declines, despite auto-related layoffs in October.
