Birthday Party Brawl Ends With Three Arrested

ANGOLA - Three men were arrested following a fight at a birthday in rural Steuben County.
The Steuben County Sheriff's stated they received a report of a physical altercation taking place in the 4100 block of W. C.R. 135 S.
Reports initially indicated multiple people were fighting and possible weapons were involved.
By the time deputies arrived the alleged victim left the scene to seek treatment for his injuries at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital.
The 33-year-old male victim had multiple head and facial injuries and was transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne for further treatment.
A preliminary investigation indicated that there were four additional victims involved, 3 adult males and 1 adult female.
The altercation occurred at a birthday party and allegedly started over an inappropriate gesture by one of the male party guests towards a female party guest.
A large metal rod allegedly used in the attack was taken from the scene and secured as evidence at the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Steuben County Sherriff's Department preliminarily charged Benny Joe Medina, 26, of Hamilton with a Level 5 felony battery resulting in serious injury and Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief, Joseph Lupercio-Soto, 28, of Angola with a Level 5 felony battery resulting in serious injury and Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief and Jacob Lupercio-Soto, 23, of Angola with a Class A misdemeanor battery resulting in injury and Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief.
All three men were taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail.
They are being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
The case still remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and additional charges may be sought.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Angola City Police, Indiana State Police, and Steuben County EMS.
