AUBURN - Demolition began this week on this history Auburn Hotel.

The hotel built in the 1890s on the corner of Main and Nineth Streets is being demolished due to the poor state of the building's infrastructure.

Reports state previous owners failed to properly maintain it over the years and it now poses a safety threat.

Hotel owner Kevin Minard, said the structural foundation of the hotel just isn’t safe, and he had no choice but to vacate the building.

Hotel officials said hotel will likely be replaced with a residential living space and that they plan to replicate the historic building as close as they possibly can.
