(COLDWATER) – A Northeast Indiana man has been returned to Michigan after five years to face multiple charges.

Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien says 46 year old Anthony Cuyler of Angola, Indiana was arraigned Wednesday in Branch County District Court on three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct; possession of methamphetamines; delivery of methamphetamines to a minor and possession of ammunition by a felon.

The charges were authorized in 2019 by the Prosecutor’s Office. However, Stempien says at that time, Cuyler disappeared and local law enforcement agencies could not find him.

Stempien says his office was notified that Cuyler may be in Mexico. The investigator for the Prosecutor’s Office asked several Federal agencies for help. In addition, the U.S. Marshals Service started an investigation and also determined that Cuyler was in Mexico.

Stempien says Cuyler was expelled from Mexico and arrested by U.S. Marshals in March and eventually brought back to Branch County.

Cuyler is being held without bond in the Branch County Jail. A probable cause hearing is set for June 25 and his preliminary hearing for July 2.
