(SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP) – Investigators are trying to determine if the death of a woman was a drowning or not.

In a media release, the Branch County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a home on Beech Bay Drive on the South Side of Union Lake around 12:20 PM Monday, after 89 year year old Nancy Sines was found by her husband and neighbors face down in the water.

Sines was removed from the water. Attempts to revive her were not successful and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband told deputies that Sines had gone out to pull weeds along the shoreline and then fell into the lake.

Assisting Deputies were the Sherwood Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.

An autopsy will be performed to determine Sines’ cause of death.
