June Unemployment Up Around NE Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Unemployment went up around Northeast Indiana from May to June.
According to information released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, LaGrange County saw an increase from 3.4% to 3.7% over the month.
The largest increase was in Noble County, which went up from 4.1% to 4.6%. Steuben County saw an increase from 3.4% to 3.8% and Elkhart County jumped from 4.1% to 4.5%. DeKalb County had an increase in unemployment from 3.7% to an even 4%.
Cities also had an increase in unemployment from May to June around Northeast Indiana. Elkhart went from 5% to 5.5% and Goshen increased from 3.9% to 4.6%.
Statewide the unemployment rate increased from 3.7% to 3.8%. That’s still below the National unemployment rate of 4.1% for June.
