Indiana’s Unemployment Rate Up From June To July

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana’s unemployment went up slightly from June to July.
Data released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows the Hoosier State’s unemployment rate increased from 3.8% in June to an even 4% in July.
Indiana’s labor force participation rate increased as well from 62.4% in June to 62.5% in July. This rate is the percentage of Hoosiers 16 and older that are either working or actively looking for work. Indiana’s total labor force stands at 3,387,066.
Private sector employment in Indiana was unchanged over the last month, remaining at 2,859,300.
Industries that experienced job increases in July included: Leisure & Hospitality (+2,000); Trade, Transportation & Utilities (+2,000); Construction (+1,400) and Professional and Business Services (+1,300).
