(DEKALB COUNTY) – One person was injured in a one vehicle accident in Northern Indiana.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, 32 year old David Mattern of Craigville was driving north on I-69 near the 322 mile marker at 5:30 PM Friday. He told deputies that a Maroon SUV approximately three vehicles north of him had stopped and made a left hand turn, going into the crossover. The vehicles in front of Mattern also slowed down.
Mattern says he was unable to stop in time and swerved to his left, onto the shoulder of the median, then into the ditch area. He tried to go between the vehicles, but went up a slight incline in the median and went airborne and then landed.
Mattern was not injured. His 13 year old passenger Kloie Mattern was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center with pain in her tailbone area.
The Auburn Fire Department and Parkview EMS assisted at the scene.
