Tornadoes Reported Tuesday Around Area

(UNDATED) – Severe storms moved through portions of Southern Michigan and Northeast Indiana late Tuesday afternoon, and produced some tornadoes.

Tornado warnings were issued for parts of Branch and Hillsdale Counties in Southern Michigan, along with LaGrange and Steuben Counties in Northeast Indiana.

The National Weather Service says that a tornado touched down 10 miles south of Bronson at 5:40 PM, and was moving northeast at approximately 20 MPH. Another tornado was seen northeast of Oliver Lake in LaGrange County which hit some structures.

Authorities say that two people suffered minor injures after a horse buggy tipped over due to the storm that moved through LaGrange County. In addition, the storm caused 28,000 chickens from a food processing company in LaGrange County to get loose.

A severe storm with a history of producing tornadoes was also reported west of Orland.

A tornado was also reported near Ligonier, heading northeast at 20 MPH.

The National Weather Service says they will do a storm survey, with the results to be released later today..
