Trine Men's Golf Takes Top Spot at Albion Invitational

ALBION, MI - For the third time in less than a week, the Trine University men's golf team captured a single-round event, this time by winning the Albion (Mich.) College Invitational at Duck Lake Country Club in Albion, Mich.

Trine finished with a team score of 288 strokes and finished four strokes ahead of Calvin University at 292 strokes. Hope College was third with 295 strokes.

Individually, the senior duo of Cameron Ruge and Carlos Coeto led the team by both players firing rounds of 71 strokes and both placed in a tie for third place.

Freshman Mark Civanich was third for Trine and placed in the top-10 after posting a round of 73 strokes to tie for seventh overall. Sophomore Mitch Lowney also carded a round of 73 strokes to tie Civanich for seventh place.

Senior Todd Mieske was fifth on the team with an 18-hole total of 74 strokes and placed in the top-15 in a tie for 12th.

Freshman Jack Brockie played as an individual and ended the tournament with a score of 76 strokes and tied for 21st overall.

Trine will take a few days off before returning to the course and hosting the Trine Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 10 at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind. The day is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
