(SOUTH BEND) - The Notre Dame community will gather Monday to honor legendary Fighting Irish football coach Lou Holtz.
A public visitation was held Sunday at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Notre Dame's campus, where a long line of mourners paid their respects.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Basilica and will be open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
WNDU will provide special coverage of the funeral beginning at 1 p.m. both on-air and online.
The public will also be able to watch the livestream of the service on campus at Washington Hall and Purcell Pavilion in the Joyce Center.
Following the Mass, the public is invited to line both sides of Notre Dame Avenue as the funeral procession travels from Notre Dame Circle to the entrance of Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Graveside services will be private at the request of the Holtz family.
Holtz will be buried next to his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Holtz, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, where fellow Notre Dame coaching legends Knute Rockne and Ara Parseghian are also laid to rest.
