(ANGOLA) - The City of Angola is celebrating nearly four decades of recognition as a Tree City USA community.
City officials announced Angola has once again been honored by the National Arbor Day Foundation, marking 37 consecutive years earning the designation.
The Tree City USA program recognizes communities that demonstrate a strong commitment to urban forestry and environmental stewardship.
To qualify, cities must meet four key standards: maintain a tree board or department, enforce a tree ordinance, invest at least two dollars per capita in urban forestry, and observe Arbor Day.
Angola leaders say the milestone reflects the city's long-standing dedication to maintaining and improving its tree canopy, with support from the Tree Board, Parks Department, volunteers, and community members.
