(FREMONT) - A friendly wager tied to this year's WLKI Pie Auction is about to come due in very public fashion.
The Orland Fire Department says its firefighters will head to the Fremont Fire Department on Saturday, April 18 at noon to make good on the losing end of a chiefs' challenge made during the annual fundraiser.
The bet calls for the losing department to wash the winning department's fire engine at its station, and this year that means Orland firefighters will be in Fremont scrubbing the truck.
The departments say the challenge was made during the WLKI Pie Auction and started with challenges issued between Chief Hufnagle and Chief Friend as the bidding wrapped up.
Officials say speedo swimwear has already been purchased and will absolutely be worn during the truck washing.
Each year, area departments bring good-natured spirit and friendly fundraising competition to one of the community's signature events.
