(GARRETT) - Garrett High School's social studies academic team is headed to the Indiana Academic Super Bowl state finals.
The team will compete May 9 at Purdue University, marking its second appearance at the state finals. The last time the social studies team advanced was in 2002.
This year's qualifying team includes Aiden Boltz, Sophia Boltz, Christian Fast, Luke Hicks, and Abby Thomas.
Garrett placed second at the Bishop Luers area meet, correctly answering 17 of 25 questions to secure one of six Class 3 spots in the state finals.
The appearance adds to Garrett's history in the competition, marking the 17th state finals trip for a Garrett High School academic team.
The school has previously qualified in multiple subjects, including English, math, science, interdisciplinary, and fine arts.
