(ANGOLA) - Pokagon State Park has two programs planned this weekend for visitors interested in wildlife and outdoor recreation.

A Purple Martin Nest Check is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. near the Potawatomi Inn beach. Participants will help monitor nesting gourds and learn how park staff track the health and progress of the purple martin colony.

On Sunday, the park will host a Women's Group Hike beginning at 2 p.m. Participants should meet in the main lobby of the Potawatomi Inn before setting out on a moderate to rugged hike. Organizers say hikes typically cover between two and four miles.

Restrooms and a water bottle filling station are available inside the inn.

Park officials encourage visitors to check the state's website for a complete list of upcoming programs and events.
