BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. (WLKI)-A passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in California Township that left one vehicle overturned.

The Branch County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched around 2:16 p.m. Aug. 10 to the area of S. Fremont Road and Southern Road for a personal-injury crash involving an overturned vehicle.

According to investigators, a 2010 Dodge Journey was traveling westbound on Southern Road when an apparent mechanical problem prevented the driver from stopping at a posted stop sign.

The Dodge entered the intersection and collided with a northbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma.

The force of the crash caused the Tacoma to leave the roadway and overturn onto its roof.

The Dodge Journey was occupied by the driver and two minor passengers. None of the occupants of the Dodge reported injuries following the crash.

A passenger in the Toyota Tacoma was transported by LifeCare Ambulance to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Fremont Fire Department, Fremont Police Department and LifeCare Ambulance.

The Branch County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
