ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI) - Trine University, the City of Angola and the Indiana Department of Transportation are planning a new four-lane road intended to improve access to the university's west campus.

The new Keith Busse Parkway will connect U.S. 20 to Thunder Drive. University officials say the roadway is expected to open by the beginning of the 2027-28 school year.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May. The project is expected to cost approximately $4 million.

Trine President Tony Kline says the project is designed to improve traffic safety and efficiency for students, employees, visitors and area residents.

University officials say the new roadway will reduce traffic through nearby residential areas and help address concerns about visibility and street alignment along Summit Street.

The project is named for Keith Busse, co-founder of Steel Dynamics Inc. and a Trine University Board of Trustees member since 2003.

Busse has served as a vice chair of the board and chair of its Executive Committee. He and Steel Dynamics have also supported several Trine facilities, including the university's athletic and recreation center, ice arena and engineering and computing center.
