FREMONT, Ind. (WLKI)- A New York man is facing several charges after deputies say he assaulted family members, threatened another person and later returned to a Steuben County home with a knife.
Anthony H. Raycroft II, 48, of Syracuse, New York, was arrested Tuesday night in the 6400 block of North Ray Road. He is charged with Level 6 felony residential entry and Class A misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, intimidation and resisting law enforcement.
According to probable cause affidavits filed in Steuben Superior Court, deputies were first called to the home at about 8:30 p.m. after witnesses reported that Raycroft was intoxicated and aggressive. Witnesses told officers he had assaulted two family members, threatened to kill another person and then left the property.
Deputies from Steuben County and Branch County, Michigan, searched the area. A second 911 call came in shortly after 10 p.m., reporting that Raycroft had returned, entered the house through the garage and had a knife.
Fremont Police Officer Reagan Stevenson was the first officer to arrive. Court documents state she entered the home and took Raycroft into custody after he allegedly resisted her attempts to place him in handcuffs.
Raycroft was later taken to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail.
If convicted on all counts, he could face up to five and a half years in prison and a possible $10,000 fine.
The charges are allegations, and Raycroft is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
