AUBURN, Ind. (WLKI)- Twelve people were sentenced for criminal offenses during hearings held Aug. 25 and 26 in DeKalb Superior Court One before Judge Adam Squiller.
The cases included felony convictions for burglary, obstruction of justice, theft, drug possession and impaired driving, as well as misdemeanor cases involving battery, drug paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated.
Shane M. Egly, listed in court records as an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail, received a five-year sentence for Level 4 felony burglary of a dwelling.
Frankie Joe Whittle, also listed as an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail, received a two-year sentence for Level 6 felony obstruction of justice. In a separate case, Whittle received two-year sentences for Level 6 felony domestic battery and Level 6 felony intimidation. Those two sentences were ordered to run consecutively and consecutive to the sentence in the obstruction case.
Nathan Oliver Deetz of Auburn was sentenced to 910 days for Level 6 felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction. All but 270 days were suspended. Deetz was ordered to serve his executed time through the DeKalb County Community Corrections program, followed by probation. His driver's license was suspended for one year.
Bryan Luna of Auburn received a 240-day sentence for Level 6 felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction. He was placed in the DeKalb County Community Corrections program and ordered to serve probation after completing that placement. His driver's license was also suspended for one year.
Derid Joe Becker of Spencerville received a two-year sentence, with all but 270 days suspended, for Level 6 felony obstruction of justice. Becker also received a 60-day sentence for operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance, or its metabolite, in his blood. The sentences were ordered to run at the same time. Becker received credit for 88 days served and was placed on probation.
Marjorie Otto of Garrett was sentenced to two years, with all but two days suspended, for Level 5 felony possession of methamphetamine. She also received a four-day sentence for possession of paraphernalia. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently, and Otto was placed on probation.
Jennifer M. James of Churubusco received two two-year sentences for two Level 6 felony theft convictions. One year of each sentence was suspended, and the sentences were ordered to run concurrently. James was placed in the DeKalb County Community Corrections program and ordered to serve probation after completing her placement.
Jose Manuel Perales of Fort Wayne received a 540-day sentence, with all but 90 days suspended, for Level 6 felony theft. Perales was ordered to serve the executed portion through community corrections and was placed on probation for the remaining portion of the sentence.
Dustin Gene Caudill of Waterloo was sentenced to 365 days, with all but two days suspended, for Level 6 felony operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator. Caudill received credit for one day served.
Izick P. Hayward of Angola received a 365-day jail sentence, with all but 10 days suspended, for Class A misdemeanor battery. Hayward received credit for five days served and was placed on probation.
Tiffany A. Jackson of Kendallville received a 90-day sentence for Class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia. Jackson received credit for 45 days served.
Amanda Rose Weigold of Fort Wayne was sentenced to 60 days, with all but 40 days suspended, for Class C misdemeanor operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration of at least 0.08. Weigold was placed on probation, and her driver's license was suspended for one year.
