STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WLKI)- Former Steuben County Sheriff's Detective Jordan Trippe has been indicted by a grand jury on a felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Trippe, 39, is charged with one count of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 5 felony. The indictment was filed in Steuben County following a grand jury proceeding.
Following the indictment, Trippe was released on bond. Court conditions include a strict no-contact order intended to protect the alleged victim, along with a restriction prohibiting Trippe from possessing weapons while the case is pending.
Trippe had worked in law enforcement in the area for more than a decade. He served with the Fremont Police Department from 2011 through 2019 before joining the Steuben County Sheriff's Office.
Before his resignation in July, Trippe served as the sheriff's department's primary contact for its Sex and Violent Offender Registration Unit.
An initial court hearing has been scheduled for 11 a.m. November 9 at the Steuben County Judicial Center.
The case is being handled by Wells County Deputy Prosecutor Timothy Sipe because of potential conflicts of interest in Steuben County.
A grand jury indictment is an allegation. Trippe is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
