COLDWATER, MI (WLKI)- The City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities will again participate in Operation Green Light, a nationwide effort recognizing veterans and service members.

From Nov. 4 through Nov. 11, residents, businesses and organizations are encouraged to display green lights as a visible show of appreciation for those who have served in the military.

City Hall and the Monroe Street sign will be illuminated in green during the observance. City officials also partnered with Jefferson Elementary School, providing green bulbs to help involve students and families in veterans recognition activities.

Coldwater residents may pick up a free green LED bulb at City Hall while supplies last. The giveaway was made possible through a partnership with the Coldwater Home Depot, which helped secure this year's supply.

Community Engagement and Marketing Manager Leilani Casteele said the city is proud to continue the tradition and encouraged participants to share photos of their green-lit homes or businesses on social media.

Operation Green Light is organized nationally by the National Association of Counties. The campaign is intended to show support for veterans as well as service members transitioning back into civilian life.

The city said the weeklong display gives community members a simple way to recognize veterans and remind them that their service is appreciated.
