(INDIANPOLIS) - A new partnership is being formed to help protect Hoosiers from debt and financial hardship. The Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute has announced a partnership with Glick Philanthropies, which is awarding more than $2.5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations across the state. Part of that funding will support the Institute's work on medical debt, predatory lending, and housing issues. Institute leaders say the goal is to help families keep more of their paychecks by preventing them from being pushed into cycles of debt caused by high medical bills, eviction, or high-interest financial products. Glick Philanthropies says the investment comes as nonprofits face growing demand due to funding cuts at the state and federal level. The organization says philanthropy must step up to help fill those gaps and support community-based solutions. The Institute plans to use the funding to continue research, educate policymakers, and advocate for stronger consumer protections aimed at improving financial security for Hoosiers statewide.
