(HAMILTON) - Cold-weather thrill seekers will take to the water again on New Year's Eve as the annual Jack Gibson Memorial Scholarship Polar Bear Plunge returns to Hamilton Lake. The event takes place Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the public beach, with the plunge scheduled for 2 p.m. The Hamilton Lions Club sponsors the annual tradition, which draws participants willing to brave the icy lake for a good cause. Organizers say there is no cost to participate, but donations are encouraged. All proceeds benefit the Jack Gibson Memorial Scholarship fund, which supports local students. Spectators are welcome, and participants are encouraged to arrive early and dress warmly.
