Following several years of planning, the Williams County Regional Airport began work on a $2.7 million taxiway extension project.
Airport officials say that this project will improve safety at the facility, as the airport will add an 1,850-foot-long by 35-foot-wide taxiway, parallel to the west end of the runway, near County Road 16.
A second section is a 148-foot-long by 45-foot-wide taxiway, connecting the runway and taxiway with the hangars, terminals and other airport facilities.
The project should all be completed by next spring, according to airport officials.
