Authorities have released the name of a man who was killed in a crash in Branch County's Girard Township.

Michigan State Police say the victim was 80 year old Richard Jewell of
Coldwater. Investigators say Jewell was driving north on Gorbell Road at 3:35 PM August 23rd when he failed to negotiate a 90 degree right turn. He vehicle went through the curve, into a ditch and then struck a tree head on.

Jewell was removed from his vehicle by the Coldwater Fire Department. He was flown by West Michigan Air Care to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he later died from his injuries.
