Coldwater Man Arrested In Connection With Shots Fired Incident
Wednesday, September 4, 2019

A Coldwater man was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with a reported incident of shots fired. Coldwater Acting Director Of Public Safety Joe Scheid says officers received a report of shots fired in a downtown alley. As they responded to the scene, a suspect drove away in a black pick up truck.

Police followed the vehicle east on Chicago Road from Clay Street, then north on Sprague Street to Hull Street. The pick up then went west on Hull Street to Morse Street, then west on Hayton Street and then into a residential driveway. Police pulled into the driveway and arrested 24 year old Joseph Dunn. In the vehicle, they found the frame of a disassembled Glock pistol, a loaded magazine and ammunition. The slide assembly was removed from the weapon and police believe the suspect may have thrown it out the window as he tried to get away. Dunn was arrested on charges of reckless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, operating while intoxicated and third degree fleeing and
eluding. He is being held in the Branch County Jail.

Scheid says if anyone finds the missing slide of the firearm, please don't touch it. You should call 911 immediately. The Coldwater Fire Department and the Michigan State Police helped search for
the missing piece to the firearm.
