Michigan SOS Offices Returning To Regular Weekday Hours
Monday, March 23, 2020

Michigan Secretary Of State branch offices are going to be modifying their operations once again.

Secretary Of State Jocelyn Benson says starting Monday, all branch offices will return to their regularly scheduled branch hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 11 AM to 7 PM Wednesday.
During this time, in person transactions will continue to be available only for critical services and by appointment.

All Secretary Of State offices shifted to operating by appointment only on March 16th, and will continue to do so until April 5. This is being done to help limit the spread of the coronavirus. Benson says operations were assessed throughout the first week, resulting in the coming change in hours and further streamlining of critical service provision.

Starting Monday, in person services will be limited to the the following tasks: Driver's license/State ID transactions that must be done in person; issuing first time CDL licenses; CDL endorsements issuance; renewal of CDL licenses only; replacing of Enhanced Driver's license; title transfers for motor vehicles only; testing for operator, CDL, chauffeur, mechanic and motorcycle; and notary service for independent citizens redistricting commission applications.

Benson says vehicle registration renewals and several other transactions can be done online. Registration renewals can be also done at self-service stations, many of which accept cash. To make an appointment, you can call 888-SOS-MICH or go on line to michigan.gov/sos.
