Second Lakeland Inmate Tests Positivite for COVID-19

According to a report from the Michigan Department of Corrections, another prisoner at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater has tested positive for COVID-19, following up the first report of a prisoner having the respiratory virus on Thursday.

The MDOC said Wednesday the first prisoner who was diagnosed with the virus was in isolation, however there has been no information as to the second prisoner who tested positive.

A total of 13 Michigan prisoners and one parolee have tested positive for coronavirus.

Other Michigan prisoners who have tested positive include, seven inmates at Parnall Correctional Facility in Jackson with one each at Woodland Correctional Facility at Whitmore Lake, Macomb Correctional Facility in Macomb County, the Newberry Correctional Facility in the Upper Peninsula and at Kinross Correctional Facility which is also in the U.P.

Also testing positive for COVID-19 at last report have been a Jackson County probation officer, and a worker at the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer and a Detroit Detention Center employee.
