Woman Injured in Car Accident Sunday in DeKalb County

BUTLER, IN - Authorities in DeKalb County are investigating a single vehicle crash that left a woman injured.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Deputies responded to a crash in the 3800 block of County Road 63, about five miles southwest of Butler just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Reports indicate a vehicle was traveling southbound when it went over a set of railroad tracks and lost control. The vehicle then went into a ditch on the west side of the road, where it rolled before coming to a stop.

Investigators say the female driver, identified as 40 year old Tara S. Monroe of Butler, initially refused medical treatment, but she was later found to have broken ribs as a result of the crash. Other injuries were not identified by authorities.

The accident remains under investigation. The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department’s preliminary report cited alcohol, cell phone usage, and speed as contributing factors in the crash.

Assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department was the Butler Police Department, Butler Fire Department, and Parkview DeKalb.
