Tibbits Opening Show Moving Outdoors
Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Tibbits Summer Theatre is again demonstrating their power to adapt.

Theatre officials says the opening show of the summer season “Sing Happy” will not be performed at Tibbits Opera House, but instead at The Ponds. This is being done in response to Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Executive Order which does not allow theaters to open yet.

Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney says they expected to be open at least at 25 percent capacity after July 4. They have done everything to follow the established protocols to keep audiences, performers, staff and volunteers safe.

Delaney says while they are disappointed, they are proud to say “The Show Will Go On.”

“Sing Happy” showcases the best of Broadway, an uplifting collection of
melodies from past and present New York shows and an outstanding small company of favorite Tibbits performers. Located at 368 South Jefferson Street, The Ponds offers a secluded setting with both space for social distancing and privacy to enjoy an intimate performance. All tickets for the event will be transferred to the new location. Masks will still be
encouraged.

The schedule will change slightly, with Thursday and Friday performances at 7 PM and the Saturday performance moved to 2 PM. Tickets are still available by calling 517-278-6029 or by going on line to tibbits.org.
