The National Weather Service says heat and humidity will be on the rise early next week.

Forecasted Heat Index values will be above 100 degrees in many areas, which is over a 20 degree increase in expected Heat Indices from Monday to Tuesday.

Heat Index is a measure of the apparent temperatures when both the heat and humidity is combined. When air becomes more humid the evaporative cooling effect from our sweat is reduced, making one feel it is hotter than the actual air temperature.

Be sure to use air conditioning if possible, avoid exertion, and drink plenty of fluids to stay safe during this upcoming heat spell.
