Northeastern Center's NEC Connect Program Passes 2000 Rides Milestone

AUBURN - Northeastern Center’s NEC Connect transportation program reached a milestone of over 2,000 rides given.

The NEC Connect program, operating out of the Community Health & Outreach Center in Auburn, IN, is a free transportation service offered through the Northeastern Center for any adult involved in the Criminal Justice system, living in DeKalb, Noble, Steuben, or LaGrange counties.

NEC Connect provides round-trip transportation to access community resources such as: court, medical, legal, probation, mental health, & substance use services; it has been in operation since 2023.

Participants do not need to be clients of the Northeastern Center with the goal being to provide safe and reliable access to community resources.

“This service is such a great opportunity for those who are working to stabilize their lives and make a brighter future for themselves.” Nicole Johnson-Smith, Community Outreach Director for Northeastern Center, said about the program.

Individuals interested in receiving a ride through the NEC Connect program should call the NEC Connect dispatch number at: 260-925-8657 to check availability and to schedule a trip, please note that trips must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
