(UNION TOWNSHIP) – A man is dead from the injuries he received when his motorcycle hit a deer.

Michigan State Police from the Marshall Post say the incident happened around 7 PM Friday. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 61 year old Union City man was driving his motorcycle east on Francisco Road near Arbogast Road in Branch County’s Union Township, when he struck a deer that walked into his path.

The driver was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for life threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries.

Troopers say the driver was not wearing his helmet at the time of the crash which is still under investigation.
