(COLDWATER) – A guilty plea has been entered by a suspect for allegedly supplying meth to an inmate at the Lakeland Correctional Facility who later died.

Branch County Circuit Court officials say 24 year old Dezaray Shenique Brown-Bobo of Detroit plead guilty Monday to a charge of supplying meth. Additional charges of bringing contraband into a prison, and delivery of a controlled substance causing death were dismissed.

In October 2023, 57 year old inmate William Wilson was found dead in a prison bathroom. During an autopsy, it was discovered that Wilson had three balloons in his body. Two of the balloons burst, but the third was not damaged. It had a substance that was identified as meth with traces of cocaine.

An investigation by the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department Of Corrections determined that Brown-Bobo supplied the drugs to Wilson during a visit just two days before he died. On a surveillance video, officers saw Brown-Bobo place an object on a plant that was in front of her. Wilson then took that object, put it in his mouth and struggled to swallow it.

Brown-Bobo is scheduled to be sentenced August 12. She could face 3 to 20 years in prison.
