Wednesday, December 19, 2018

A Massachusetts woman found herself being jailed on drug charges following a traffic stop by an Indiana State Trooper on the Indiana Toll Road this week.

According to Trooper Tim McCormick, he stopped a white Mercedes, around 11:00 a.m. Monday, for a moving violation near the 75.6 mile marker, eastbound. This is approximately 1.5 miles west of the Notre Dame exit on the Indiana Toll Road.

While speaking to the female driver, who could not provide photo identification, McCormick purportedly smelled the odor of marijuana. During a subsequent search of the Mercedes, McCormick located a small plastic bag containing suspected cocaine, a container containing numerous capsules and tablets identified as controlled substances as well as a small plastic bag containing an unidentified blue powder.

McCormick placed the female under arrest and transported her to the St. Joseph County Jail. Once at the jail, it was found that the female was concealing a bag with suspected marijuana on her person and a small bag with suspected cocaine in her mouth.

Several hours later the true identity of the female was found to be Allysa Santos, 20 of Springfield, MA and the identity that she verbally provided was that of an acquaintance.

Santos faces preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of a Schedule II Substance, and Identity Deception.
