Saturday Afternoon Fatal Accident

A crash that happened Saturday afternoon has claimed one life.

According to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened just before 3 p.m. when officers were called to 3880 North 1025 West in Cromwell on a report of a crash. First units on the scene found a black Ford Mustang that had gone off the road after hitting multiple trees and a truck.

The truck was parked and unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Reports indicate that Gregoria Murrilo Padilla Jr., age 22 of Ligonier (Indiana) died while being transported to the hospital. Another person in the vehicle, Mike F. Morales, age 26 of Ligonier (Indiana) was transported to the hospital from the scene.

The extent of Morales’ injuries was not given in the report. He was transported to Parkview Regional Hospital.

Investigators believe both vehicle occupants were ejected through the rear window of the car, but are not sure who was driving.

The incident remains under investigation by the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.

The Noble County Sheriff's department was assisted on scene by the Cromwell Police Department, Ligonier Police Department, Sparta Township Fire Department, and Parkview EMS.
