A DeKalb County Community Corrections employee was accidentally shot during a training exercise Monday morning around 7 a.m.
According to a news release from the DeKalb County Community Corrections Department, the employee was training at the Auburn Police Department’s training center. The individual was identified as Pretrial Services Coordinator Quentin T. Young. The release said Young “accidentally discharged a semi-automatic pistol” during a training exercise and was struck in the upper right leg.
Staff applied a tourniquet and administered first aid until Auburn Fire Department firefighters and medics from DeKalb Health arrived.
Young was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital. He was treated for his injuries and later released.
