Angola Common Council accepts Carlin Drive Reconstruction Bid
Tuesday, June 18, 2019

The Angola Common Council accepted a bid for the Carlin
Drive Reconstruction Project. The Council received bids for the 2019 Carlin Drive Reconstruction Project. The lowest of four bids for the project came from API Construction at $247,332. The bid was over $50,000 higher than the estimated and budgeted cost for the project.

Mayor Hickman noted that it was been a trend amongst neighboring cities to have road project bids coming in well higher than estimated. The increase is due to construction wages, prices for blacktop, concrete and increased workload for companies.

Council also approved a request from Republic Services for a rate adjustment of 1.53% on the Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling Material Contract dating back to June of 2016. The rate adjustment comes due to problems with recycling for Republic Services.

The next Angola Common Council meeting will take place Monday July 1 at 7PM from the City Hall Council Chambers.
